Wherever we turn, streets of Pakistan are littered with children living purposeless lives. They are deprived of the basic needs that include healthy food, clean drinking water, comfortable and hygienic living, and qualityeducation.
Lack of attention and education makes people more inclined towards criminality. However, better educated people tend to attach a higher value to their future, which means they’re less likely to engage in risky activities that could put their future and the country's future at stake. Time spent in school means less time on the streets for these children.
At MUSKURAHAT (Asma Homes/Asma's Model School (for Girls) AMS), we consider each child to be an 'opportunity' born with an absolutely unique talent or potential, and we try to bring this to surface by giving them the confidence and providing them with the healthy and comfortable life and learning opportunities they deserve. This way, wherever the child goes in the future, they will not consider themselves to be any less of an individual.
Let's ensure a happy and safe childhood for these deserving children.
Let's get more children out of the streets and into the schools.
Let's give these kids a better chance to life to keep them away from evil and criminality in the future.
Let's try and give our country more responsible individuals.

Asma Munir Salman
A teacher by profession, Asma strongly believes that a positive 'change' can only be brought in the lives of her people and the economy of her country if the deserving children of today are given close attention and quality education is made accessible to every child regardless of their ethnic, communal, or financial background. She's bent upon revolutionising the current educational system in the remote areas of Pakistan and strongly believes there must be no gender discrimination as far as a child's right to education is concerned.

An IT Manager by profession and Electrical Engineer by education, he believes that in order for a deprived child to be sent to school and perform actively in life, they must first be provided with healthy and nutritious food and living. He makes sure that in terms of health and fitness, children must readily be supplied with all that they deserve that their parents cannot afford to provide for them.

Arslan Ghani
Based in Toronto, Canada, and a cybersecurity professional, Arslan is extremely passionate about Muskurahat's noble cause of educating underprivileged children. According to him, the best gift we, as a privileged community of individuals, could possibly give to our homeland is to extend a helping hand to educate kids from an extremely disadvantaged background, so they could be groomed to live purposeful lives and be our agents of change which Pakistan desperately needs. Being a father to two children, he understands the challenges associated with raising kids in the 21st century and empathises with the kids who have, unfortunately, lost a parent or have no support system, and also with parents belonging to the downtrodden areas who can barely afford to feed their kids, let alone dream of sending them to school.

Anjum N. Reshi
An entrepreneur running her own handicraft business, and being compassionate and generous by nature, Anjum had already been mobilising her community to support education of underprivileged kids of the twin cities of Pakistan under the name 'Shajar - tree of hope'. She started off as a volunteer with Muskurahat in 2017 and used to spend quality time with children at our shelter homes telling them stories and playing games until she joined the 'trust' fully in 2021 to support its noble cause and take it to new heights.

"It has been one of the most serene and beautiful moments in my life when I got an opportunity to visit Asma Homes, Islamabad. After interacting with these kids, I discovered the true meaning of the word 'Empathy'. There were a few exercises that I had planned for them. I found them deeply engaged in the exercises where they were enthusiastic and curious. Considering their backgrounds, I noticed a huge difference in them. It was like someone had sculpted their lives so beautifully and carved them as true living beings who have voices of their own and can readily ask questions. I could see young listeners and observers. These kids are inspired and blessed to be here. I'm inspired by Asma's teaching methodology and philosophy as she inspires and touches the inner spirit of a person. Then it's more of an individual connection and unconditional love and compassion that forms an understanding. Spending time with these kids is such a meditation. Each soul has a story to tell and a purpose to serve, I'm sure."

Miraculous!
Since 2015, I have had the privilege to closely observe the progress of the two projects of
Muskurahat Trust; Asma Homes, and Asma's Model School (for Girls) AMS, and I can assure that they are miracles. The students admitted in these institutes have a distinct shine in their eyes. These open and progressive minded children are not only determined to help themselves but the people around them. Even their family’s conventional thinking has changed, and they want their children to get world-class education that these schools offer. These organizations are not a learning center for these students only but also for those who visit them.
Ma’am Asma Munir Salman has devoted all her time and energy so that these children can have a better life. She treats them like her own children by taking care of their physical, mental, and emotional needs. Many a times I have myself seen her counsel these children so that they can cope up with the everyday challenges that they face. Under her care I have witnessed many street kids change into focused individuals.
These children are a reflection of their mother, Ma’am Asma, who is an inspiration for so many like me, who is passionate about her work and is determined to save the lives of these children.

Volunteering at Asma Homes, Islamabad has been one of the most worthwhile experiences of my life. Coming in with over 22 years of teaching experience in Science and Biology, I wanted to make Science tremendously interesting for these children, so they can pursue careers in them instead of feeling daunted by it. Every week, I plan fun Science activities and experiments. I found them to be very enthusiastic, keen learners and highly participative in discussions. The feeling of watching them understand and engage in science has been very rewarding. More so, considering their background, these children are very well groomed and polished. Spending time with them, one realizes the that they've been brought up with such love and affection. I admire Asma's teaching methodology, her motherly love to them, and the amount of effort she puts in providing these children with a sense of individuality. They are truly blessed and inspired for a better life. I am honoured to be able to contribute in enriching their lives for a better tomorrow.

The children at Asma Homes are some of the most confident, well-mannered, empathetic, and intelligent individuals I have ever come across. They love reading books, such as Harry Potter and the Famous 5, and their inquisitive minds enjoy discussing a variety of topics - from environmental pollution and climate change, to the history of Pakistan and even the Queen of England! They are very curious about the world and long to travel to countries as far away as Tanzania and Brazil. One cannot give enough credit to the lovely Asma for the way she has brought up these children, with her endless love, care, and attention. Together, Asma and the children truly make Asma Homes feel like a home, full of happiness and joy.

I am a housewife, who has been volunteering at the Asma Homes, Islamabad. Every day spent with the children at the shelter has been a beautiful experience. They have excellent language skills, hearts of gold and manners as good as you would find anywhere. The credit definitely goes to the nurturing and motivating environment that Asma has created for the children. Thanks to her and thanks to all the other volunteers working with the children, we hope to make a difference not only in the lives of these children, but also in the society at large, with the help of these bright and beautiful children.
